Module Configuration

Enable, disable, and organize modules and submodules available in your InstiKit installation.

General 3 min read

The Module Configuration page allows you to control which modules and submodules are available in your InstiKit installation.

This feature helps organizations enable only the modules they actually use, resulting in a cleaner and more focused user interface.

In addition to enabling or disabling modules, you can also reorder the main modules to match your organization's preferred navigation.

InstiKit Module Config

Important

Module configuration is applied globally across your organization. Any changes affect all branches, campuses, and users.

Main Modules

InstiKit organizes related features into Main Modules.

Examples include:

  • Reception
  • Academic
  • Student
  • Employee
  • Examination
  • Fee
  • Transport
  • Library
  • Hostel
  • Inventory
  • Payroll
  • Communication
  • Report

Each main module contains one or more related submodules.

Enabling or Disabling Main Modules

Each main module has its own enable/disable switch.

When a main module is disabled:

  • All of its submodules are automatically disabled.
  • Related menus are hidden.
  • Users cannot access any feature belonging to that module.

This provides an easy way to completely disable features that are not used by your organization.

Example

If your organization does not provide transportation services, simply disable the Transport module.

All transport-related features such as:

  • Routes
  • Vehicles
  • Stops
  • Transport Fees
  • Driver Management

will become unavailable throughout the application.

Enabling or Disabling Submodules

Each main module contains several submodules that can be managed individually.

This allows you to enable only the features your organization requires.

Example

Your school may use the Student module but not require:

  • Alumni
  • Transfer Requests
  • Edit Requests

In this case, you can disable only those submodules while keeping the remaining Student features available.

Similarly, within the Academic module, you may disable:

  • Book List
  • ID Card
  • Timetable

without affecting the other academic features.

Reordering Modules

InstiKit allows administrators to rearrange the order of the main modules.

Simply drag and drop a module to change its position.

The new order is reflected throughout the application navigation for all users.

This allows organizations to place frequently used modules near the top of the navigation menu.

Enable only the modules your organization actively uses.

Benefits include:

  • Cleaner navigation
  • Easier user training
  • Reduced menu clutter
  • Better user experience
  • Simpler permission management

Important Notes

  • Module settings affect the entire organization.
  • Disabling a module does not delete its existing data.
  • Existing records remain stored in the database.
  • Re-enabling the module restores access to the existing data.
  • User permissions remain unchanged, but disabled modules cannot be accessed.

Best Practices

  • Disable modules that are not used by your organization.
  • Review enabled modules periodically.
  • Reorder modules based on how frequently staff use them.
  • Keep navigation simple for teachers and administrative staff.

Saving Changes

After enabling, disabling, or reordering modules, click Save to apply the changes.

Changes take effect immediately across the application. Users may need to refresh their browser to see the updated navigation menu.
