Introduction to the Configuration Module

Learn how the Configuration module works and why it should be accessed only by authorized administrators.

Config 1 min read

The Configuration module is the first place you should visit after installing InstiKit. It allows you to configure your institution's core settings, which are used throughout the application.

Most settings in this module affect the behavior of multiple features. Therefore, they should be configured carefully before users begin using the system.

These configurations are applied globally to all the branches added to the system.

Examples of settings available in this module include:

  • School or organization information
  • Localization and regional settings
  • Email and notification settings
  • Security and authentication options
  • Other system-wide preferences

You can access the Configuration module by navigating to the Settings menu in the top navigation bar.

Important

The Configuration module is protected by the config:store permission.

This is one of the most sensitive permissions in InstiKit because it allows users to modify system-wide settings that can affect the entire application.

By default, this permission is assigned only to the Administrator role.

If you grant this permission to any other role, you do so entirely at your own responsibility. We strongly recommend limiting access to trusted system administrators only.

The following sections explain each configuration option in detail and provide recommendations for the best settings in different scenarios.
