Overview
Twilio is a global cloud communication platform that delivers SMS in many countries. InstiKit supports Twilio as an SMS gateway, which makes it a practical choice for international schools and for partners running InstiKit for schools outside India.
Setting up Twilio in InstiKit
In InstiKit's SMS configuration, choose Twilio and enter:
- Your Account SID.
- Your Auth Token, kept confidential.
- The Twilio number messages are sent from, which must already exist in your Twilio account.
- A default number prefix, such as +1 or +44.
Use Send Test SMS to confirm the setup before sending messages to parents.
What schools send
- Absence and late-arrival alerts.
- Fee reminders and payment confirmations.
- One-time passwords for login.
- Exam schedules, results notices and announcements.
Good to know
Some countries require registered sender IDs or numbers before SMS can be delivered; Twilio documents the rules for each country. SMS charges are billed by Twilio to your Twilio account.
If your preferred SMS provider is not Twilio or MSG91, InstiKit's custom SMS gateway option can connect to most providers that offer an HTTP API.
