Overview
Razorpay is one of the most widely used payment gateways for Indian schools. With the InstiKit integration, parents pay fees online from the parent portal or mobile app, and the school's fee records and receipts update automatically, so the accounts team no longer matches bank statements to students by hand.
How Razorpay payments work in InstiKit
- The school connects its Razorpay merchant account in InstiKit's payment settings.
- A parent opens the fee screen in the parent portal or mobile app, or follows a payment link, and chooses the installment to pay.
- The parent completes the payment on Razorpay's secure checkout.
- InstiKit records the payment against the student's fee installment and generates the receipt.
- The accounts team sees the transaction in fee collection reports, including reports by payment gateway account.
Card and bank details are entered on Razorpay's checkout, not stored in InstiKit.
Where Razorpay fits
Razorpay suits schools in India that want parents to pay by UPI as well as cards and net banking. Because UPI is how many families already pay, offering it on the fee screen usually moves collections away from the school counter.
What you need
- A Razorpay merchant account for the school or trust, approved by Razorpay.
- The API credentials from your Razorpay dashboard.
- Fee structures and installments set up in InstiKit, so parents see exactly what is due.
Razorpay reviews and approves merchant accounts, including KYC; the school completes that with Razorpay before going live.
Related fee features
Razorpay works with the rest of InstiKit's fee management: fee structures and installments, concessions, late fees, receipts and collection reports. Parents can also pay at the school counter, and every payment, online or offline, appears in the same student fee record.
