Role & Permission

Quickly access and manage roles and permissions for the currently selected school.

User Guide Profile Menu 2 min read

The Role & Permission option in the User Menu provides a quick shortcut to the Roles and Permissions configuration of the currently selected school.

Instead of navigating through the School module, this shortcut opens the role management screen directly, making it easier for administrators who frequently manage user access.

Roles

Purpose

Every school in InstiKit maintains its own:

  • Roles
  • Permissions
  • User access rules

Since these settings belong to a specific school, role and permission management is always performed within the context of the selected school.

The Role & Permission menu simply provides faster access to these settings.

How It Works

When you click User Menu → Role & Permission, InstiKit automatically opens the configuration for the currently selected school.

For example, if your selected school is:

Mint International School

the shortcut will take you directly to:

School → Mint International School → Configuration → Roles & Permissions

There is no need to manually browse through the School module each time.

What Can Be Managed?

From this shortcut, administrators can manage:

  • School Roles
  • Role Permissions
  • User-wise Permissions

These are the same configuration pages available from the School module.

School-Specific Configuration

Roles and permissions are maintained separately for every school.

This means:

  • Each school can have different roles.
  • Each school can assign different permissions.
  • Changes only affect the currently selected school.

For example:

School Principal Role
Mint International School Full administrative access
Mint Public School Limited administrative access

Although both schools have a Principal role, the assigned permissions may be different.

Why Use the Shortcut?

The shortcut saves time for administrators who regularly modify user access.

Instead of navigating through multiple screens:

School
→ Select School
→ Configuration
→ Role
→ Permission

you can simply open:

User Menu
→ Role & Permission

and begin managing access immediately.

Important Notes

  • The shortcut only opens the configuration for the currently selected school.
  • Switching to another school changes which roles and permissions are displayed.
  • Any changes made affect only the selected school.
  • To manage another school's roles or permissions, first switch to that school.
