Clear Cache

Clear cached data to ensure InstiKit uses the latest configuration and application settings.

User Guide Profile Menu 2 min read

The Clear Cache option allows authorized users to clear the application's server-side cache.

InstiKit caches configuration and other application data to improve performance. Occasionally, after making configuration changes, the cached data may need to be refreshed before those changes become visible throughout the application.

The Clear Cache option provides a quick way to perform this task without requiring server access.

When Should You Clear the Cache?

In most cases, you do not need to clear the cache during normal day-to-day usage.

You should consider clearing the cache after making changes such as:

  • Application configuration
  • System settings
  • Localization or language files
  • Terminology changes
  • Feature configuration
  • Environment configuration
  • Other settings that are cached by the application

Clearing the cache forces InstiKit to reload the latest configuration from the server.

How to Clear the Cache

  1. Open User Menu → Clear Cache.
  2. Confirm the action if prompted.
  3. Wait a few seconds while the cache is cleared.
  4. Refresh your browser if necessary.

The application will automatically rebuild the required cache as users continue using the system.

What Happens?

When the cache is cleared:

  • Cached configuration is removed.
  • Cached application data is refreshed.
  • The latest configuration is loaded from the server.
  • Existing application data remains unchanged.

No user records, student information, attendance, fees, or other business data are deleted.

When Is It Commonly Used?

Administrators typically clear the cache after:

  • Installing updates
  • Changing application settings
  • Adding a new locale
  • Updating translations
  • Changing terminology
  • Enabling or disabling features
  • Troubleshooting configuration-related issues

Important Notes

  • Clearing the cache does not delete application data.
  • The operation only removes temporary cached information.
  • The first request after clearing the cache may take slightly longer while the cache is rebuilt.
  • Frequent cache clearing is generally unnecessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will clearing the cache delete my data?

No. Only temporary cached data is removed. All application data remains safe.

Do I need to clear the cache every day?

No. Cache should only be cleared after configuration changes or when recommended by your administrator or support team.

Why don't I see my configuration changes immediately?

Some configuration values are cached for better performance. Clearing the cache reloads the latest configuration from the server.
