Send a short update through the school app
A reminder about tomorrow's activity or a staff meeting often needs only a short message. Mobile push notifications give the school another way to share these updates with people who use the school app.
InstiKit lets staff prepare a subject and message, choose an audience, and submit a push notification. The message is saved as a communication record so the office can refer back to its content and audience details.
Choose the school groups that need the update
Select all students or choose particular divisions, classes, and sections. Employee audiences can include all staff or selected departments and designations.
For example, a sports day reminder can be prepared for the participating classes. A separate update can be prepared for staff in the relevant department. Linked guardian contacts are also considered when preparing notifications for student audiences.
Reach linked accounts and registered devices
The system creates an in-app notification for eligible contacts with linked user accounts. When an account has registered mobile push devices, it can also receive a device alert.
This means an account notification and a mobile alert serve different purposes. The account can have a notification even when there is no registered device available to receive the push message. Families and staff need the relevant account and app setup to use these features.
Check a message using a test notification
Staff with access to the notification tool can enter a subject and message and send a test to their own account. The test creates an account notification and sends an alert to that account's registered devices.
This is useful when setting up the school app or checking how a message appears. The office can review the wording and app setup before preparing a message for a larger school audience.
Support published school announcements
Mobile alerts also support announcement publication. When the announcement notification settings and push template are enabled, a newly published announcement can trigger a push alert for recipients with registered devices.
The announcement holds the longer explanation and supporting files, while the notification provides a short update. For a detailed circular, the school can use the announcement page to keep the full information together.
Use clear messages that families can act on
A useful school alert states what is happening, who it concerns, and the date or time. For example, a class reminder can mention the activity and reporting time in a few clear lines.
The selected audience count describes the contacts chosen for the message. It should not be treated as confirmation that every device received the alert or that every recipient read it.
