Keep a clear record of who travels on each bus
At the start of a term, the school office may receive many transport requests. Some children need both journeys, while others only need a ride to school or home. Each request needs the correct route and stop.
InstiKit helps schools maintain these assignments in one place. The transport team can organise routes, add students to the right stops, and refer to route lists when checking daily arrangements.
Set up routes and bus stops
Create named stops that staff and families can recognise. Add the stops to a route in travel order and record their arrival times. Each route can have a name, code, assigned vehicle, and maximum capacity.
Schools can set up arrival routes, departure routes, or round trips. Start times and journey details help the coordinator maintain a clear schedule for each service.
For example, a school could name a route after the area it serves and arrange its stops from the first pickup point to the school. Clear stop names make student assignments easier to check.
Assign students to the correct stop
Select one or more students and assign them to a stop on the chosen route. This is useful when several children board at the same location.
Schools can also add employees to a route, record their role or title, and choose whether to publish their contact number. This helps keep the route's student and staff details together.
When a student's transport arrangement changes, staff can update the relevant assignments and check the route list before the next journey.
Review transport arrangements by route or class
Route student reports help the transport team check who is assigned to each service. Class route reports help the school office review transport arrangements across classes and sections.
These views are useful when confirming a new term's transport list or helping a class teacher check a child's route.
Set charges for different transport needs
Transport fee groups are called circles in InstiKit. A school can create circles for the fee categories it uses and set separate amounts for arrival, departure, and round trip travel.
For example, a school may charge different amounts for nearby and more distant areas. It can also use a separate amount for children who need only one journey.
Transport charges are included in student fee installments after the relevant transport fee structure, circle, and journey direction have been assigned. Route allocation and fee allocation are separate steps, so staff can check both the travel arrangement and the charge.
